Bertha F. Ceppa of Bristol died on Monday March 1, 2010.
She was born in New Britain, a daughter of the late Felix and Helen (Dukiet) Ceppa.
A resident of Bristol, she attended Bristol schools and graduated as Salutatorian of her high school class. She attended Teachers College of Connecticut, now Central Connecticut State University and received her master’s degree from the University of Hartford. She was a teacher at the John J. Jennings School for many years, until her retirement. She was a member of the Bristol, county and state retired teachers groups. She was a founding member of St. Gregory Church, where she served as a trustee. She was involved in many activities in the church ministry and did volunteer work as a teacher and financial secretary.
She was a charter member of the Rosary Society and headed the Altar Guild for many years.
She is survived by her sister Jeanette Ceppa of Bristol and several cousins.
She was predeceased by her sister Irene J. Ceppa.
Funeral services will be held on Friday March 5, 2010 at 10 AM from O’Brien Funeral Home, 24 Lincoln Ave, Forestville to St. Gregory Church for a Mass of Christian Burial 11AM. Burial will follow at St. Joseph Cemetery, Bristol.
Calling hours will be from 4 to 6 PM on Thursday evening at the funeral home.
