Michael Brendan Mullaney, 60, passed away peacefully Friday evening July 4, 2014, at The Summit at Plantsville, surrounded by his family.

Mike was born in Hartford, CT on March 13, 1954- the fifth child of the late Richard L. Mullaney, Jr. and Helene (Lavoie) Mullaney.  He was a 1973 graduate of St. Paul High School, Bristol and a member of St. Matthew Church, Forestville.  A very mechanically minded individual, he was a very talented springmaker at Tollman Spring and was instrumental in several of their spring designs and machinery development. In his younger days, Mike enjoyed playing soccer and other sports. He loved outdoor activities such as fishing, hunting, hang gliding and snowmobiling. He enjoyed hiking and had even hiked the Appalachian Long Trail with his brothers.  He also enjoyed wood working and making furniture for his family and friends.

Mike will be best remembered for his indomitable humor, laugh, smile and joking. He always had a good word for his family, friends and his caregivers at The Summit of Plantsville.

He leaves his daughter, Joscelyn, and her husband, Gene Conley of Noank and his granddaughter, Paige Turner. He also leaves his siblings: Richard and Gloria Mullaney of Bristol, CT; Lennie Mullaney and Don Brabant of Portsmouth, NH; Kathleen Williams of Plantsville, CT; Martha and Frank Pellegrino of Terryville, CT; Elizabeth Mullaney of Albuquerque, NM, James and Robin Mullaney of Seymour,CT; Eugene Mullaney and Leigh Sheldon of Pittsford, VT; and Mary and Donald Jones of Ridgefield,CT; and 29 beloved nieces and nephews and 32 grand nieces and nephews.  Michael is predeceased by his parents Richard and Helene Mullaney, formerly of Bristol, CT; his brothers Sean Mullaney formerly of Stateline, NV and Timothy Mullaney formerly of Bristol, CT.

The celebration of Mike’s life will be held on Wednesday July 9, 2014 beginning at 11:00 a.m. from O’Brien Funeral Home, 24 Lincoln Ave., Forestville and will proceed to St. Matthew Church, 120 Church Ave., Forestville for a Mass of Christian Burial at 12:00 p.m.  Committal services and interment will follow at St. Joseph Cemetery, Bristol.  Calling hours will be held on Tuesday between 6:00 and 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
