Ronald G. LaPointe

January 20, 1945 ~ April 10, 2014 (age 69) 69 Years Old
Ronald G. LaPointe, 69, of Bristol, passed away unexpectedly on Thursday, April 10, 2014.  He was born in Lewiston, Maine on January 20, 1945, the son of the late Walter and Cecile LaPointe and was married to the love of his life Judith E. (LaCount) LaPointe.

Ron served his country proudly in the U.S. Navy aboard the destroyer, U.S.S.  John W. Weeks.  Following his time in the Navy, he went on to work for Carpenter Construction Co for over 45 years.  Outside of work, Ron enjoyed frequent trips to Mohegan Sun and playing the “Let it Ride” table.   Some of Ron’s favorite things to do were playing cards, horseshoes, darts, deep-sea fishing, pool, softball, and bowling, spending time at Misquamicut Beach, RI with family and friends, and being Grandpa to his grandsons who were the joy of his life.  He spent most Sunday afternoons with friends known as the “Sunday Card Gang.”  He was a self-described “chocoholic” and enjoyed life to the fullest.  So many memories and loved ones, he will be dearly missed by all who knew him.

Besides his wife and soul mate Judith aka “Little Mother”, he leaves his children Careyann LaPointe, Melissa L. LaPointe-Gudaitis and her wife Christine, and Ronald E. LaPointe; his grandsons Mason LaPointe, and Evan and Ryan Gudaitis; his siblings Richard “Blackie” Violette and his wife Ginette, Glenda Milardo and her husband Joseph, Brenda Kucinskas and her husband John, and Robert LaPointe; several nieces and nephews that were very important to him; the “Sunday Card Gang” including John and Jeanne Choomack, Claudette Sozzi, Carolyn Bosworth, and Blackie and Ginette Violette.

There are too many close friends to list them all; Sharon and Dave Wurzenger, John and Barbara Mone, Bob and Annie Lamoreaux, Stephanie Quick, many more; and of course “Jake” his Siberian husky.  His closest buddies David, Chip-Dog, Cal, George, and Steve all knew him as “Ron Dog.”

He was preceded in death by his sister and her husband Judy and Bill Hogan and his brother James Violette.

A celebration of Ron’s life will be held on Saturday, April 12, 2014 at the O’Brien Funeral Home at 24 Lincoln Ave, Forestville/Bristol. Family and friends are invited to gather Saturday from 2:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. at the funeral home with a memorial service at 6:00 p.m.
