Tribute

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Francis L. Powers, 81, of Bristol. He passed away peacefully surrounded by his loving family on March 12, 2024. Fran was born in Limestone, Maine on November 20, 1942. He was the son of the late Richard and Stella (Barnes) Powers from Limestone, Maine. He is predeceased by his brothers Arthur, Richard, Frederick and Albert Powers, his beloved son Wayne Powers and his son-in-law Steve Lambert. He leaves behind his loving wife of 59 years, Ann (Pinette) Powers, his son Keith Powers and wife Jill Powers, his daughter Kim Powers, his grandchildren Zachary and Nicholas Powers, Jacob Lambert and Haley Powers. Fran moved to Connecticut in 1962. He married his wife Ann in 1964 and raised his 3 children in Bristol. He was a very proud grandfather. He loved getting down on the floor to play with them and reading books and changing all the words to his own version so he could see their little faces look up at him like he was crazy. He enjoyed going on cruises with his wife and friends and vacationing in the Bahamas with his family. He had a boat that he loved fishing off of and dragging his kids around on either water skis or tubes on Bantam and Coventry Lake. He and his family spent many summers renting a home on Coventry Lake and making lifetime memories. He worked a few different jobs before he started his lifelong career as a diesel mechanic for White Oak Construction in Plainville, CT. He worked there for 41 years until his retirement in 2007. After his retirement he spent a good portion of his time in THE SHED. He enjoyed fixing family, friends and neighbors tractors, mowers or whatever they might bring him. It was his happy place where he could shoot the breeze and put back a couple cold ones with friends. His big smile and amazing sense of humor will always be remembered by his family and friends.
