Belone “Ben” Caron, 82, of Bristol, passed away peacefully on Monday January 16, 2023 after a long and courageous battle with Parkinson’s.
He was born on March 26, 1940 in New Brunswick, Canada, the son of the late Fidele and Aglaee Caron. He was one of fourteen children. In 1968 he immigrated to the United States to secure a better life for his family. He settled in Bristol, CT and together with his wife (and best friend) of 60 years, raised 4 children.
He worked for Martin Cabinet for many many years. It was then that he discovered he had an incredible talent as a finish carpenter and master woodworker. He was sought after by many and his works include designer kitchens in hundreds of homes, cabinet designs for many offices, universities, dormitories and one of a kind pieces of furniture.
He was a sweet gentle giant of a man with a mischievous smile. He was loved by many and will be dearly missed.
He is survived by his loving wife of 60 years, Jeannette (Bosse) Caron of Bristol; his sons George Caron of NH and Gerard Caron and his wife Laura of Bristol; his daughter Manon Collins of Bristol; his grandchildren Brittany and husband Zachary Bonin, Alyssa Caron, Jacob Collins and Aaron Collins; his great-granddaughter Adeline Bonin and many brothers, sisters, nieces and nephews.
Ben was predeceased by his son Mark Caron and his son-in-law Francis Collins.
The family would like to thank the entire staff at The Pines at Bristol, who cared for and loved ‘Ben Ben’ for 5+ years. We are eternally grateful for your support and will miss you all dearly.
Calling hours will be held on Friday, January 20, 2023 from 9AM until 10:30AM at O’Brien Funeral Home, 24 Lincoln Ave., Bristol, then to ST. Matthew Church for a Mass of Christian Burial at 11AM, followed by a procession to St. Joseph Cemetery, Bristol.
