Delia Ann Ashline

Delia “Dee” (McCaughern) Ashline (79), of Wallingford, CT, passed away peacefully after a brief illness on June 1, 2022.

Dee, the daughter of John F. McCaughern and Theresa (Tonon) McCaughern was born and raised in Bristol, CT where she attended St. Anthony High School. She earned her BSS from Bryant College (RI) and was awarded the “Key to the College” for her academic excellence.

Throughout her professional career, Delia worked at several law offices in the area, until finally settling in at the Connecticut Housing Finance Authority for 17 years. Upon retirement in 1997, Dee, unable to sit still, started her own business as a private CPA/EA out of her home. She was so loved by her clientele that she attempted to retire three times, before finally doing so in April of this year.

Dee was most fond of being at home, reading good books, and socializing with small groups of cousins and dear friends. She enjoyed baking and playing with her pups.

Her kind, warm and generous spirit will be missed by many who grieve her passing. She leaves three daughters: Tracy Brissette of Groton, Christine Ashline of Meriden and Barbara MacBeth (John MacBeth), of Meriden. Dee also leaves her grandson, Casey Ashline and granddaughter, Delia Bedore, as well as a great grandson, Kaiden, all of Wallingford.

Delia will also be mourned by her sister, Mary Lou (McCaughern) Carucci and her husband, James, of St Augustine, FL and several dear cousins and childhood friends, namely Jessica Betts, Glen Richardson, Jayme (McCaughern) Carucci and Amy Riddle.

Calling hours will be Thursday, June 9, 2022, 5-7 pm. At O’Brien Funeral Home in Forestville/Bristol, CT.

Burial will be private at the family’s convenience.
