Tribute

Dory B. Avritch, 88, of Bristol passed quietly at home, Sunday afternoon, July 25, 2021. She was the beloved wife of Richard T. Avritch for the past 29 years. They were married on May 22, 1992 and she relocated from Haddam to Bristol.

Dory was born in Westerly, RI on November 11, 1932 the daughter of the late William and Corinne (Hall) Brown. Dory was an LPN and for many years sold pharmaceuticals to doctor offices, hospitals and pharmacies. Later, she worked for various area doctor offices until she retired.

Dory enjoyed many happy hours at the Bristol Senior Center painting and cresting ceramics. She was also a member of Good Shepherd Episcopal Church, Bristol. Dory was the type of person you could talk to when you needed a friend who cared and would listen.

Besides her beloved husband, she leaves her son Coe “Toby” Hawkins and his wife Jaimie; daughter Julie Hawkins; step sons Peter Avritch, Bruce Avritch (Alina), Steven Avritch (Valerie) and Matthew Avritch (Christy); and son-in-law John Statkiewicz. Six grandchildren, 6 step grandchildren and 6 great grandchildren. She was predeceased by her daughter, Susan Statkiewicz.

Graveside services will be held on Saturday, August 7, 2021 at 10:00 10:00 a.m. directly at Peacedale Cemetery, 115-199 James P. Casey Rd., Bristol. Rev. Link Hullar of Good Shepherd Episcopal Church, officiating.
