100 year old Dorothy J. Taucher passed away on May 4, 2021, 11 days after losing her younger sister Louise. Dorothy was born on February 6, 1921 to John and Josephine (Gerger) Taucher. She attended New Britain schools and graduated New Britain Senior High in 1939.
Dorothy’s first job was with The New Britain Machine Co. working 48 hours earning $14 a week. She later joined the Connecticut Bank and Trust and with her outstanding work ethic, she worked her way to Assistant Treasurer at the main office in Hartford, retiring in 1983. Dorothy was a world traveler. She traveled with her group, especially her friend Sylvia on many adventures. She visited almost every continent on the globe and was once a passenger on the Queen Elizabeth in 1958. She would return with pictures, stories and gifts for all her siblings, nieces and nephews. Dorothy was the oldest of nine and was the family historian, she could remember events, names and dates right up until her passing.
She is survived by her brother Theodore Taucher of Southington; her sister Elizabeth Tkac and brother-in-law Michael of Plainville and many nieces and nephews who will miss her dearly. She is predeceased by her sisters, Marion and Mildred Taucher, Evelyn Gresh and Louise Geiger; her brothers John and Charles Taucher; sister-in-law Jeannine Taucher and brothers-in-law William Gresh and Carl Geiger.
The family would like to thank every member of the staff and nurses at The Pines at Bristol and Optum Care Services, who loved and cared for her, treating her with kindness and respect, making it her home for the past 5 years.

Calling hours will be held on Saturday May 8, 2021 at O’Brien Funeral Home, 24 Lincoln Ave., Bristol from 8:30 AM until 9:30 AM followed by a procession to St. Gregory Church for a Mass of Christian Burial at 10AM then to St. Mary Cemetery, New Britain.
