Gary M Hamel

Gary Michael Hamel, 49, of Bristol, passed away unexpectedly on Tuesday, November 30, 2021.
Born on November 24, 1972, in Bristol, he was the son of the late Jeffrey Hamel and Lucille LaPlant. Gary graduated from Cheshire High School class of 1991. He attended Nichols College graduating in 1995 with a degree in Finance.

He began his career at his father’s company, Forestville Machine Co. as a Purchasing Manager. He worked for Yarde Metals for 18 years as a Senior Buyer flat rolled and brokered products and most recently as a Senior Buyer for Associated Spring in Bristol.

He loved Sports, NASCAR racing and was an avid collector of sports memorabilia. Gary loved statistics. He was very knowledgeable regarding the stats for each player, team and could recite them from memory.

Gary was loved by all who knew him. He was kind, generous, compassionate, and had such a wonderful sense of humor.

Gary is survived by his stepmother, Dale Cuomo; his stepbrother, Michael Cuomo; and his Niece Olivia Cuomo.

On Saturday, December 11, burial will precede the memorial service at 9:00 AM at West Cemetery, 180 North Washington Street, Plainville. Following the burial, a memorial service will be held at St. Bridget of Sweden Church, 175 Main Street, Cheshire at 10:00 AM. Immediately following the Memorial Service all are welcome to gather at Viron Rondo Osteria Restaurant, 1721 Highland Ave., Cheshire, CT.
