Gertrude D. (Drouin) Plourde, 84, of Port Angeles, WA passed away on March 14, 2022 at Franciscan Hospice House in University Place, WA. Gertrude was born February 5, 1938 in Biddeford, Maine, the daughter of Leonel and Lillianne (Gosselin) Drouin.
She worked for various hospital and private duty employers as a Registered Nurse. In 1981, she was diagnosed with encephalitis which caused memory loss and confusion for the rest of her life. She strived to live independently in WA, where her mother was also living. She became an avid Seattle Mariners fan, rarely missing a game on television. She also enjoyed swimming, traveling, reading, current events and was a parishioner of St. Joseph Church in Sequim.
Gertrude leaves her sons Kent Plourde of New Britain, Pierre Plourde and his wife Denise of Plainville, and Mark Plourde and his wife Roberta of Amherst, NY; her daughters Susan Martinez and her husband Faustino of Hersey, MI, Sonya Plourde of Sterling, MA, and Phyllis Plourde of Simsbury; 9 grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren; a sister Gloria O’Keefe of FL and half-brother Benoit of Hollis, ME. Gertrude was predeceased by her half-sister Denise.
Family and friends are welcome to gather on Saturday, April 23, 2022 from 9:00AM to 10:30AM when the funeral service will begin at O'Brien Funeral Home, 24 Lincoln Ave., Forestville followed by Interment at St. Joseph Cemetery, Bristol.
