Gloria L. Hyland

Gloria Lucia Hyland, 97, of Bristol, passed away on Tuesday, August 22, 2023. She was born on October 14, 1925 in Waterbury, daughter of the late Anthony and Clara (Mattarazzo) Biancardi. Gloria was the loving wife of the late James F. Hyland, whom passed in 1988.

Gloria attended Post University in which she received her associate’s degree in business. She also received her cosmetology license from Kavalas cosmetology school, and was a beautician for many years. Upon moving to Bristol, she became a health aide at Stafford school, where she retired.

Gloria shared a love for both her faith and her family. Her fondest memories were family summers spent at the shores in Milford and Niantic.

Gloria is survived by her daughters Becky DeCourcey of Naples, FL, Brigid Soldavini of Naples, FL; sons James Hyland and his wife Kathe of Niantic, Kieran Hyland of Bethany; six grandchildren Megan, DJ, Gloria, Kelly, John and James; eight great-grandchildren Piper, Skylar, Colin, Claire, Rory, Gabrielle, Saqqara and Francis.

In addition to her parents and husband, Gloria is predeceased by her siblings Richard, Anthony and Robert Biancardi and Marie Theriault.

A Memorial Mass will be held on Monday, August 28, 2023 at 11AM directly at St. Matthew Church, 120 Church Ave. Bristol. A burial will follow at St. Joseph Cemetery, Plainville.
