Helen H. Pritchard, 89 of Wallingford, passed away peacefully on Sunday, December 30, 2018. She was predeceased by her husband of 64 years, Rev. David G. Pritchard VII. Born on August 4, 1929 in Lexington, KY, Helen was the only child of Major General Robert P. and Ruth B. Hollis.
Helen is survived by her four children and daughters-in-law: Elizabeth Tamiso, David and Angela Pritchard, Robert and Marianne Pritchard and Ruth Pritchard. “Grannie” will be fondly remembered by her eleven grandchildren: Jay Tamiso, Emily Jensen, David IX, Paul (deceased), Michelle, and Adriana Pritchard; Rob, Christopher, and Katie Pritchard, and Matthew and Sabrina, and Seth Pritchard, and by five cherished great-grandchildren: Xoe Tamiso, Damir, Amber and James Pritchard, and Robert O. Pritchard III “Trip”.
Grannie loved being the wife of an Episcopal Priest. Her home was often filled with guests, she loved entertaining.
Helen was a successful business woman in the 70’s, owning a needlepoint store, The Yellow Door Needle Works in Savannah, GA. Her passion later in life was tweaking recipes and making them her own. She had a hand in writing or editing over a dozen cookbooks which her family still uses often. With another great cookbook in the works, she left us too soon.
Helen was a life member of the Danbury Garden Club and served on the boards of the Connecticut and National Federated Garden Clubs. She was a Master Gardner, and a Flower Show Judge. She was also an avid genealogist and spent many hours connecting the dots of both her and David’s family tree.
Helen’s family extends their thanks to the staff on Wooster 4 and Ramage 5 at Masonicare Health Center for their care over the past five months.
A memorial service will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, January 5, 2019 at St. Peter’s Episcopal Church, 59 Main St., Cheshire.
