Herbert Hochstadt

Herbert Hochstadt, 95, of Bristol, passed peacefully Friday morning, January 11, 2019 surrounded by the love of his family.  He was the devoted husband of Marie (Newsome) Hochstadt, married for almost 73 years.  

Herbert was born on April 18, 1923 in Germany the son of Heinrich and Pauline Hochstadt and came to the U.S. when he was 5 years old.  He lived in Bristol all his life and graduated from high school in 1941. He loved sports, including bowling, softball, fishing, water skiing at Bantam Lake, and especially playing golf. He was also a member of the Bristol Fish and Game Club, and the Bristol Lodge of Elks #1010. He was retired as a supervisor with Bussman Manufacturing after 40 years of services. Herbert was a wonderful provider for his family, also working nights for many years at Superior Electric.
 
Herbert was predeceased by his daughter Susan Munn and besides his wife, he leaves his daughters Cheryl Biernat (William) of Plant City, FL and Sally Provenzano (Frank) of Bristol; grandchildren Scott and Michael Biernat, Tony Provenzano, Nikki Lewandowski and Melanie Wood; great grandchildren, Logan and Spencer Biernat, Nico and Briana Provenzano, Conner and Owen Wood and several nieces and nephews.

The family wishes to thank the 4th floor staff at The Pines for their compassionate care the past 4 years, and Constellation Hospice personnel for their services during the past few weeks.

Herbert will be sincerely missed by his loving wife and family, who love him dearly and grieve his loss.
