Jean M. Burby, 83, of Bristol, passed away on Sunday, March 14, 2021. She was born on February 10, 1938 in New Britain, daughter of the late Austin and Mary (Kubala) Carroll.
Jean was the loving wife of the late Charles L. Burby, Sr.. She loved to crochet, bake cookies for the holidays and spending time with her grandchildren. Jean enjoyed watching the Girls UCONN basketball games and old western movies. She was an active member of the New Britain Housing committee.
Jean is survived by her son Timothy Burby and his wife Amy of Bristol; daughter-in-law Riechelle Burby of Hebron, Grandchildren Timothy, Jr., Zachary, Logan and Gavin Burby; step-sons Ron Burby and his wife Penny of New Britain, Charles Burby and his wife Cindy of New Britain, Brian Burby and his wife Bonnie of UT; step-daughters Jan Martin and her husband John of FL, Kathy Deldona and her husband Ron of New Britain and several step-grandchildren, nieces and nephews. Besides her husband and parents, Jean is pre-deceased by her son Shawn Burby and brothers Andrew Carroll and Robert Carroll.
Calling hours will be held on Thursday, March 18, 2021 at O’Brien Funeral Home from 5PM until 7PM. A Mass of Christian burial will be held at 11 AM directly at St. Gregory Church, 235 Maltby St., Bristol on Friday, March 19, 2021. Burial will follow at the VA Cemetery in Middletown at 1PM.
