Joyce L. Pullen, 98, of Bristol, passed away on Sunday, April 11, 2021 at her home with her daughter by her side. She was born on March 21, 1923 in Albion, MI, daughter of the late Henry J. and Bessie Agusta (Loomis) Schwab.

Joyce was the loving wife of the late Paul Pullen for 42 years before his passing in 1989. She worked at Buckley Insurance Agency for many years and later retired from Bob Vacino Insurance Agency. Joyce was a member of the Sweet Adelines, the Plainville Senior Center Choral Group, Bristol Chorale, Bristol Senior Center and a dedicated member of Asbury United Methodist Church, where she was in the church choir for over 50 years.

Joyce was an avid reader of historical romances. She was selfless and was a person everyone looked up to. She had an unconditional love for everyone. Her door was always open, to host you for a long visit or to house you while you got on your feet. Joyce’s sense of humor and wit were outstanding, she could make anyone’s day better after talking to her. She enjoyed doing crafts for her community and volunteering at the Bristol Senior center in the rsvp section. Joyce was strong and brave as she was a breast cancer survivor and covid 19 survivor.

Joyce is survived by her daughter Constance Schulz of Bristol; her son Thomas Pullen of Bristol; 7 grandchildren Glen Schulz, Rebecca Resendes and her husband Phil, Shannen Champlin and her husband Tom, Marci Paradis, Chad Pullen, T.J. Pullen, Robert Pullen and 7 great-grandchildren Caitlyn, Allison and Jacob Champlin, Talan and Cassidy Daigle, P.J. and Logan Resendes.
Besides her husband Paul and her parents, Joyce is predeceased by her son Robert “Bob” Pullen, brother Henry J. “Jack” Schwab and his wife Hatsu and 2 loving nephews John and Paul Schwab and son-in-law Mark Schulz.

Calling hours will be held on Sunday, April 18, 2021 at O’Brien Funeral Home, 24 Lincoln Ave., Bristol, starting at 1:00pm until a service that will begin at 2:00PM. Burial will be held privately.

Joyce’s favorite color was pink. Per her request, she has asked everyone to wear something pink to the calling hour and service.

In lieu of flowers donations can be made in Joyce’s name to Asbury United Methodist Church, the Book of Remembrance, 90 Church Ave. Bristol, CT 06010.
