Linda M. Johnston

August 2, 1964 ~ November 17, 2020 (age 56) 56 Years Old

Tribute

Linda Maryann Johnston, 56, of Southington, CT, was called home to heaven on November 17, 2020, at UCONN John Dempsey Hospital after a long illness. Her final days were spent surrounded by family, all of whom will miss her dearly.
Linda was born on August 2, 1964 in Meriden, CT, to Irene (Maerz) McHugh and Norton Johnston.
She attended Southington High School and went on to a long and successful career in the restaurant and food service industry. She was most recently employed at Yarde Metals in Southington, CT.
Linda was a huge animal lover and leaves behind her two kitties, Sasha & Onyx, who brought such joy to her life. She had an affinity for gardening and was extremely proud of the morning glories that she grew this past summer, which flourished under her care. However, her most cherished accomplishment was her butterfly garden, that she tended to with such diligence, to provide a resting point for the monarch butterflies on their journey. She enjoyed cooking and trying new recipes often. When she found a winner, she was sure to share with all.
She is survived by her mother, Irene (Maerz) McHugh of Southington, CT, sisters Laura Fletcher (Guy) of Fort Pierce, FL, Cathleen Whillock (Aaron Waterman) of Southington, CT, Gretchen Limmer of Farmington, CT, and Jessica Montano (Michael) of Manchester, CT. Her nieces and nephews were her world, and those she leaves behind are Marc Garcia (Heather) of Southington, CT, Jamie Saldana (Jeff) of Royersford, PA, Danielle Garcia of Terryville, CT, Lindsey Simone (Joe) of Bristol, CT, Madison Whillock of Southington, CT and Dylan Whillock, also of Southington, CT.
She is also survived by many great nieces and nephews, as well as other extended family including aunts, uncles & cousins, all of whom she adored.
She was preceded in death by her beloved father, Norton Johnston.
Services will be held at a later date, at the convenience of the family, and as COVID restrictions allow.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Linda’s honor to the Meriden Humane Society, 311 Murdoch Avenue, Meriden CT, 06450.
