Marion E. Blackwood, Jr., 77 of Farmington, CT passed away peacefully with his family by his side on August 31, 2021 after a long, courageous battle with cancer.

Marion was born on October 24, 1943 in Brinkley, AR, the son of the late Marion and Mell (Woods) Blackwood, Sr. He was raised in Cleveland, MS where he graduated from Cleveland High School and Delta State College (now Delta State University). He served in the Mississippi Army National Guard in Drew, MS.

Marion had a successful career in Human Resources as a Consultant/Director/Vice President. He worked thirty years at The Travelers taking him to several states starting in Jackson, MS and ending in Hartford, CT as Vice President and Manager of Travelers Realty Investment Co. He also worked for ConnectiCare, Inc.; ICICI Infotech Inc. (formerly Command Systems, Inc.) in Farmington, CT; Client Associated Businesses, Inc. in Milford, CT.

Not only a successful businessman, Marion was a loving husband and father. He was kindhearted, compassionate, positive, uplifting and a man you liked to talk with. He will be missed by everyone who knew him.

He is survived by his devoted wife of 55 years Dorothy Carol (Griffis) Blackwood; his son, David Blackwood of Las Vegas, NV; Lance Blackwood and his partner Amy Mazzola of Farmington, CT; his brother Terry Blackwood and his wife Christi of St. Louis, MO; his brother-in-law, Wallis Griffis, Jr and his wife Dorothy of Daphne, AL and a large extended family and many friends.

A private graveside service will be at Riverside Cemetery in Farmington, CT at the convenience of the family.

In lieu of flowers, donations in Marion’s memory may be made to either American Cancer Society www.cancer.org or to the charity of one’s choice.
