Mary (Harbanuk) Farr, 86, of Wolcott, passed away peacefully after a courageous battle with cancer, Wednesday morning, October 4, 2017 at Mulberry Gardens in Southington. She was the widow of John Robert Farr.
Mary was born in Waterbury on May 29, 1931, daughter of the late Andry Leon Harbanuk and Mary (Lipa) Harbanuk. She was a lifelong area resident and had worked as a lab technician with Uniroyal Chemical. Mary enjoyed duck pin bowling with the St. Joseph Bowling League, she was an avid gardener and especially like to care for her exotic peonies.
She leaves her sister, Anna H. Urban of Wolcott, nieces and nephews Dr. Mary Ann Cordeau and her husband Robert, Leon Farr, Michelle Arnold and her husband Richard, John Farr and his wife Jurema. She leaves her grand-nieces Mary Elizabeth Cordeau and Roberta Ann Cordeau. She leaves other nieces and nephews. Mary was predeceased by her brother Stephen Harbanuk and her sister Anastasia Eberle.
Mary’s family would like to thank Dr. Joseph Bowen and the staff of the Leever Center for the wonderful care they provided.
Calling hours will begin on Monday, October 9, 2017 at 8:30 a.m. at O’Brien Funeral Home, 24 Lincoln Ave., Forestville/Bristol until the procession leaves at 10:00 a.m. for a Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00 a.m. at St. Leo The Great Church, 14 Bentwood Dr., Waterbury. Committal service and interment will follow at Calvary Cemetery, 2324 E. Main St., Waterbury.
