Peter A. Zito, 94, of Bristol, passed away on Tuesday, April 6, 2021. He was born July 14, 1926 in Hartford and was one of ten children born to the late Frank and Donata (Gerardi) Zito.
Peter was the loving husband of 50 years to the late Dorothy (Falvey) Zito. He served our county in the US Army in World War II and the Korean War. Peter enjoyed plumbing the most and was a licensed Master Plumber. He also possessed licenses in many other trades. He worked for the City of Hartford Board of Education for most of his professional career and spent many of those years as the Manager of Building and Grounds. He enjoyed going to the Goodspeed Opera House, movies and dining out with his wife Dorothy. He had a passion for dancing at Arthur Murray, where he was a long-time member and recipient of numerous awards. He also enjoyed big band music and played the clarinet and saxophone.
Peter is survived by his sons Thomas P. Zito and his wife Linda of Canton, Sean P. Zito of Bristol, daughter Noreen D. Zito and her long-time partner Thomas Kinney of Farmington, brothers Daniel Zito and his wife Mary of Wethersfield, Joseph Zito of South Carolina; long-time friend Dennis Zelinsky of Iowa who was his Hartford Courant news carrier many years ago and several nieces and nephews. Peter was devoted to his family and will be remembered for his generosity and easy-going nature.

Calling hours will be held on Tuesday, April 13, 2021 from 4:00 p.m. until 6:00 p.m. at O’Brien Funeral Home, 24 Lincoln Ave. Bristol. A funeral will be held on Wednesday April 14, beginning at 9:00 a.m. at O’Brien Funeral Home, followed by a procession to St Matthew Church, 120 Church Street, Bristol for a 10:00 am Mass of Christian Burial. Burial will follow at St. Joseph Cemetery, Bristol.
