Robert A. & Claire Cordeau

Robert A. "Bob" and Claire (Taraskewich) Cordeau, 93 and 90 years old respectively, passed away together at Avow Hospice in Naples, FL on August 19, 2022 surrounded by their loving family.  Bob was born in Waterbury on March 20, 1929, a son of the late Emil and Rose (Martin) Cordeau.  Claire was born in Waterbury on August 26, 1931, a daughter of the late Peter and Alexandra (Cieslik) Taraskewich.  

Bob and Claire were married 73 years and shared a lifetime of love and affection for each other.  Bob was a SFC in the Army. He worked as a lineman and later in the engineering department for CL&P. He was also a member of the IAEI.  He served on the Wolcott Town Council. In the late 1960s he founded C&H Electric, Inc., in Waterbury and together, with his sons, operated the business until his retirement.  Bob was very passionate about his 40 plus years of involvement with AA where he sponsored and supported many individuals. For most of her married life, Claire was a homemaker. She enjoyed crocheting and knitting, making slippers for everyone in her family. Claire also enjoyed cooking and baking.  She was passionate about saying the rosary and was an active member of St. Stanislaus Church, Bristol where she enjoyed attending the annual Polish Festival.  They retired to Naples, FL where Bob enjoyed fishing on his boat with his friends and family.  Bob was very active in the Coast Guard Auxiliary.  Claire loved to hear about her grandchildren, calling them her, “precious babies.” Bob and Claire were very devoted to each other, Claire considered them to be a team. When Bob became terminally ill, Claire took care of him until she became ill herself. They entered Avow hospice on the same day and two days later, passed away within one hour of each other.  

Bob and Claire are survived by their three children and their spouses Robert B. and Mary Ann Cordeau, of Naples, FL and Wolcott, CT, Ronald and Michele Cordeau, of Pinehurst, NC and Deborah and Doug Allen, of Wolcott, CT and Naples, FL; four grandchildren and their spouses Stacy and Tom Begert, of Burlington, CT, Jeffrey and Jennifer Charette, of Wolcott, CT, Mary Cordeau and Derek Sabine, of Westport, CT, and Roberta Cordeau and Aron Weitzman, of Brooklyn, NY; 7 great-grandchildren and 1 on the way; and Bob’s sister Lorraine Guerrette, of Middlebury, CT.  They also leave many nieces, nephews and friends.  They are predeceased by Bob’s sister Joyce Strileckis and Claire’s brothers Edward and Henry “Hank” Taraskewich. 

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on their 74th anniversary on September 24, 2022 at 10AM at St. Stanislaus Church, Bristol, followed by Burial together, with Military Honors for Bob, in Edgewood Cemetery, Wolcott, CT.
