Spencer D. Brucker

Our Dad, Spencer D. Brucker, Sr., a man with dignity, compassion, and sincerity, passed away in the early morning hours of September 12, 2019 with family by his side at Cherry Brook Health Care Center in Canton, CT. He is now with his beloved wife Stephanie, the woman he loved for 70 years, who passed away on December 10, 2017.

Spencer was born on May 11, 1923 in Collinsville, the son of the late Ezelia (Roy) and Adam N. Brucker in the family home.

Spencer graduated from Canton High School in 1941, working for the First National Store prior to entering the Army Air Force, where he served in the European theatre from 1943 – 1945 in WWII. Returning home, he became the Store Manager of the First National Store in Collinsville and then Winsted, CT. From there, he joined Pratt & Whitney Aircraft in East Hartford, where he was the supervisor of the paint shop, before retiring in 1983. During his time there, he belonged to the P&W Bowling team.

Spencer loved working in his yard, always creating a masterpiece with flowers and shrubs. He loved going outdoors while at Cherry Brook Health Care Center, enjoying the sun.

He is survived by his son Richard Spencer Brucker (Frances) of CA; daughter Madeline B. Marzullo (Joseph) of Harwinton; and son Spencer D. Brucker, Jr. of Unionville; his grandchildren Wendy Bryant (Christopher) of CA; Heidi Sexton (Keith) of WI; Laura Campbell (Brian) of IN; Deborah Sessa (Jamie) of VA; and Jenna DeVore of PA; great grandchildren Second Lt. Garrett Sexton of CO (US Army); Sierra, Samuel, and Rebecca Sexton of WI; Brianna Campbell of IN; and Hannah Sessa of VA, as well as beloved nieces, nephews and his sister-in-law Frances Brucker of Simsbury, CT.

He was predeceased by his brothers Lewis and Roy Brucker and his sister Edna Hanelius.

Memorial services for Spencer and Stephanie will be held at a later date and at the convenience of the family.
