Stella S. Raczka

Stella S. Raczka, 93, of Bristol, passed peacefully on Monday, May 4, 2020 in Plantsville. She was the beloved wife of the late Stephen A. Raczka, Sr. who passed in 2014.

Stella was born on February 20, 1927 in Easthampton, MA the daughter of the late John and Eleanor (Skrecz) Skorupski and lived in Forestville for many years. She had worked for SNET, Ingraham Clock and Bussmann Manufacturing.

Stella enjoyed cooking and baking her Polish foods for her family. Her family was her greatest joy. She had also been a member of St. Stanislaus Church, Bristol. After Sunday Mass at St Stanislaus she would entertain relatives from near and far. She loved big family dinners and celebrations, and always made everyone feel welcome and loved through her generosity and hospitality.  She loved her many family vacations to Cape Cod with the whole family and swimming at the beaches. She will always be remembered for her golabki, pierogi, many other homemade dishes, and her love of dancing the polka.  

She leaves her four children, Stephen A. Raczka, Jr. and wife Ellen of Bozrah, Thomas Raczka and wife Karen of Southington, Laura Flint and husband Bill of Bristol and Margaret Pohorylo and husband Jim of Westbrook; Seven grandchildren, Amy, April, Stephen III, Lindsey, Rachel, Jonathan and Olivia; seven great-grandchildren, Amiyah, Allyson, Ashlyn, Stephen IV, Thomas, Evan and Leah; sister, Cecelia Cowles of Southington and several nieces and nephews. Besides her husband and parents, Stella was predeceased by her daughter Kathleen and by her brothers Alphonse, Chester, Edward, Stanley and Sigmond Skorupski.

The family wishes to thank the staff of LiveWell Plantsville for the wonderful care given to Stella the past year.

Services are private. She will be laid to rest next to her husband and daughter in St. Joseph Cemetery, Bristol. O’Brien Funeral Home, 24 Lincoln Ave., Forestville is honored to assist the family.
