William “Bill” Edward Horchler, 86, of Barkhamsted, formerly Bristol, passed away on Wednesday, December 23, 2020 at home. He was born on October 23, 1934 in Bristol, son of the late Frederick and Carrie (Werner) Horchler.
Bill was the loving husband of Sandra (Ptolomey) Horchler for 45 years. He retired from General Electric after 36 years of service. Bill owned and operated Horchler’s Gun Shop and was an authorized repair station for Crossman Corp. for over 60 years. He was a lifetime member of Bristol Fish & Game and a longtime member of Bonny Rigg Camping Club. Bill enjoyed riding his motorcycles, bowling, hunting, fishing, and the outdoors. He was always helpful to a stranger in need and a mentor to many, especially his extended family, children, grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
In addition to his wife, Sandra, Bill is survived by his daughters Florence M. Pirro, Joann Prenoveau and her husband Stephen, Lisa Ann Sturges and her husband Stephen II; grandchildren Maria Pirro Simmons, Trisha Shank, Jeremy Horchler, Stephen Sturges III; 7 great-grandchildren; sister Joan Venturo and several nieces and nephews. He is predeceased by his daughter Marianne C. Horchler.
